Sherry Tross
Secretaria Ejecutiva
Secretaría de Cumbres de las AméricasSherry Tross was appointed Executive Secretary of the Summits of the Americas Secretariat on December 1st 2010. Prior to her current appointment, she served as Chief of Staff to the Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS) from 2006-2010. Previously, she served as political advisor and principal speechwriter for the Assistant Secretary General. From 2003-2005, she was Director of Business Development at the World Trade Center Miami. Prior to that, Ms. Tross served as Program Director for the University of Miami’s North-South Center, an independent research and educational institution focusing on the political, social, economic, and security issues affecting the citizens of the Western Hemisphere. In that capacity, she conducted research on trade policy, wrote extensively and organized more than 400 international conferences and training workshops. She was the editor of the North-South Update policy brief, a bi-weekly newsletter that focused primarily on trade and security issues. She also served as security policy liaison with the US Army War College and US Southern Command and was involved in conceptualizing and executing a series of high-level programs on security policy and strategy for senior military personnel from more than 20 countries in North, South and Central America, and the Caribbean. Ms. Tross worked as a Research Fellow for the University of Miami’s Caribbean Program from 1992-1994, drafting papers on regional trade agreements and the effects of globalization on small states. She has also provided consulting services for government agencies and private companies. Ms. Tross has been a speaker, commentator and rapporteur at public fora on trade, gender, corporate social responsibility and a range of Caribbean issues and has guest lectured on the same topics. In 2003, she served as co-director of the Americas Trade and Sustainable Development Forum which paralleled the VIII FTAA Trade Ministerial in Miami. She holds a B.A. in Spanish and Government from Hamilton College, New York and an M.A. in International Relations from the University of Miami.
Martin Huenneke
Como Especialista de Cumbres en la Secretaría de Cumbres de las Américas, Martin Huenneke es responsable de las actividades de coordinación del Grupo de Trabajo Conjunto de Cumbres (GTCC), así como también del proceso de seguimiento y revisión en distintas áreas de los Mandatos de Cumbres, los cuales incluyen Agricultura y Vida Rural, Empleo, Ambiente y Manejo de Desastres Naturales, Lucha contra la Corrupción, Turismo y Comercio. Martin también presta apoyo técnico y logístico al Grupo de Revisión de la Implementación de Cumbres (GRIC), supervisa el Sistema de Información y otras comunicaciones de la Secretaría; además coordina el programa de pasantías de la Secretaría de Cumbres.
Anteriormente, Martin Heunneke trabajó ampliamente en gerencia, monitoreo y evaluación de proyectos en la Secretaría Ejecutiva para el Desarrollo Integral (SEDI) de la OEA. Asimismo, Martin tiene significante experiencia en Gerencia de Relaciones Interinstitucionales, incluyendo la Coordinación Regional de talleres para la OEA y Gerencia de Programas Educativos Bilaterales entre instituciones educativas superiores en los Estados Unidos y México.
Martín, nativo de St. Louis Missouri, cuenta con un Master en Estudios Latinoamericanos de la Universidad de Nuevo México y un Master en Plan de Estudios e Instrucción de New Mexico State University, así como también una Licenciatura en Ciencias Políticas y Francés de la Universidad de Missouri.Beatriz Piñeres
